Get the Violin out, he’s off again! 🎻🎻🎻
I had to bite my tongue last night after seeing a post from a very close friend which sounded entitled and ignorant to what was going on around us on what proved to be the hottest day ever in the UK since records began.
A week or so ago, I had a disagreement with a colleague over some recent current events.
Late last year I had an incident at an establishment where its doorstaff profiled me, imagine my disappointment when I discovered that some of those who were there when the said incident happened not only returned to that same establishment but also shared it online so I could see. It felt like a slap on the face to be honest. I don't think it was done maliciously but I do think there was a certain level of ignorance involved there.
Social media is a double edged sword. Whilst I am a great advocate for it, I also see how it magnifies issues and potentially causes resentment and leads to procrastination about matters which don't do one any favours in the long run. It's not and has never been my place to tell others how to live their lives or disregard what matters to them but if I feel that strongly about it then I will bring it up, but privately with them and not for others entertainment at 'Wine (or preferred beverage of choice) O' Clock'.
I've already started with little adjustments like uninstalling FB from my phone and making a little daily visit there via my tablet or computer to check on Birthdays and groups I'm part of. My FB account is linked to IG so I can still share my running and ' View From Above' pics. The rest I'll figure out as I go. Already I've noticed that not having those 'rabbit hole' moments that come along with having a quick peek on the socials via my phone provide me with time to do other stuff like update my blogs and work on other things I've been meaning to. I'll still be about guys and my messenger app is still here too to keep in touch with everyone so have a good one wherever you are and whatever you're up to and hopefully see you in person soon. Xx
(... and yes, I'll be sharing this on FB so you can read it😁)
