Podcasts...
My first time listening to a podcast was when my friend Miguel introduced me to DJ Chus and Ceballoss, one I still listen to every now and then when I fancy reliving my Clubbing days…
They were a relatively new thing back then (roughly 15 years ago). Now, almost everyone out there who has some sort of public presence has one and they range in pretty much every topic and subject under the Sun from music, films and entertainment to crime mysteries, politics and Conspiracy theories, there is truly something for everyone.
I’m subscribed to at least three at any given time and they regularly compete with my audio books and books for listening time.
Not too long ago I became extremely miffed when the podcast App I used regularly decided to morph into part of the YouTube Music app and out of the blue almost every one I listened to was plagued with ads unless I chose to upgrade to a premium version. I already pay for various apps and was not keen on having to do so for yet another so we parted ways.
I then discovered some of the podcasts I listened to on it were available on Audible and Amazon Music which I already had subscriptions to. I also remembered that I had access to the ‘BBC sounds’ App which opened up a whole new universe of podcasts to me. Yay!!!!
My current favourite is ‘Good Bad Billionaire’ in which each episode profiles a particular Billionaire, their origins and how they made their fortune in their respective areas such as entertainment, social media empires, technology and business just to name a few and then rates them on points such as their backgrounds, influence, philanthropy and whatever legacy they are leaving or planning on leaving.
I have enjoyed every single episode so far and am currently listening to one about an Australian billionaire who’s story is proving as intriguing and fascinating as a six part limited series on Netflix!
So if you have access to a decent podcast app and aren’t making the most of it, rectify that error now and enjoy the big wide world of listening material there is out there. You’re welcome! 😁
